Hillside Waterfront.

This stunning ¾ acre waterfront property in Bloomfield Hills sits atop a hill and captures the southern views. Prior to starting the site transformation, the home featured 3 open levels, all with outdoor access and panoramic views of the lake. However, the outdoor spaces were dated and in poor condition with an undersized walkout patio that transitioned to a steep unusable lawn with 25’ of drop to the lake.

Upon beginning the renovation, the landscape architect was tasked with creating an outdoor space that would accommodate the owner’s large family and entertainment needs, while also preserving the dramatic lake views. The main level of the home now opens to a renovated sprawling overlook terrace perfect for a relaxing family dinner. A lightweight porcelain tile pedestal system was used to complement the paver patio below while preserving the existing sub-structure. The walkout level of the home opens directly to the main entertainment terraces below and features a large swimming pool, fire feature, sun lounge, and natural stone path down to the lake. A 60’ wide masonry staircase was designed to promote the open circulation from the walkout terrace down to the pool while also providing an option for seating across the entire entertainment space. The pool was intentionally lowered to help maximize lake views – the result: a perfect transition from pool edge to lake.

The space takes on another life at night with soft lighting throughout and dramatic illuminated water laminars projecting out of the patio into the pool.
