Grosse Pointe Park Manor.
This project was a collaborative effort between the landscape contractor and landscape architect to create a stunning site and landscape development, respectful of the historic site and magnificent English Tudor architecture, overlooking Lake St. Clair.
A generous-sized arrival court accommodates parking for larger events. The vehicular circulation creates a central and expansive open lawn space and illuminated focal point sculpture.
Meticulously maintained evergreen hedges define spaces and create structure for the landscape. Large masses of flowering perennials and ornamental grasses create seasonal color and movement in the landscape. A large central gathering lawn area was created on the lakeside, outlined with seasonal flowers for large gatherings. Natural stone was used for pool/spa copings and step stones throughout the site to gracefully connect the spaces.
The seawall and boardwalk were implemented to absorb the velocity of Lake St. Clair, while providing an opportunity for wandering through the site along the lakefront. The swimming pool and spa provide opportunities for relaxation while providing infinite lake views.
Authentic iron fencing and gates create safe and secure entry into the pool enclosure, also disguised with sloped and clipped evergreen arborvitae along the property lines to maintain lake views. Lighting highlights the landscape and hardscape including the boardwalk. Green and red post marker lights emulate the marine code of conduct.
